Where is our faith? / Donde esta nuestra fe?

To those who are still in their homes, and to those who can already leave. Today we want to share a couple of things. First a reflection and then the update on how Mongolia's plans are going.

A while ago, I decided to read the Bible in order, at this time I am in Ezekiel. This part of the Bible, the books of the prophets may sound a bit repetitive since they are focused on the previous time and during the occupation of Israel by Babylon and Persia. According to the Bible, this occupation was allowed by God, due to the innumerable occasions when the people and leaders went astray and set their eyes on other gods or practices that were not allowed.

When you read the Bible in order, you realize that they did it many times and were also forgiven many times. Why am I telling you this story? The reason is that even though the people were freed from slavery and turned into an empire for centuries, still, when situations got complicated, the people turned to other gods. And the truth is that it is easier to hold on to objects and things that we can see than to have faith. I think that in these times of pandemic, which already seems endless, it is very easy to get discouraged and look for hope in things that do not give us a guarantee. The only guarantee we have is in God.

It is very good that we have our rulers, our doctors, that vaccines are being developed, our jobs, and that we have masks. This is all very good. But the only thing we can put our trust is in God, he is the only one who always remains, before, during, and after any pandemic. I invite you to search your heart and mind.

And think: Where is my hope in these times? What makes me feel safe?

Now, let's talk about Mongolia! As some of you know, we had an exploratory trip planned in March of this year, a few weeks before it due to the virus we moved it to September. With the current situation in the world, we are 99.9% sure that we will have to move it again. Possibly next year. Mongolia is still cold as always and with few cases, all of them imported. Currently, only nationals can enter Mongolia, and they have to quarantine for 5 weeks. It sounds extreme, but it is the only way that a country can have fewer than 300 cases. For a few weeks, our meetings to find partners in our ministry were few. We had a hard time finding a rhythm and a way to have meetings in these times. But we are back and in the past few weeks, God has provided many meetings and potential partners that take us one step closer to our goal. Of the courses we have to take, we are almost done with the first one. Aemilii is getting the license to teach English internationally.

Hola a todos!

A los que siguen en sus casas, y a los que ya pueden salir. Hoy queremos compartir un par de cosas. Primero una reflexión y luego el update de cómo van los planes de Mongolia.

Hace un tiempo, decidí leer la Biblia en orden, en este momento voy por Ezequiel. Esta parte de la Biblia de los libros de los profetas puede sonar un poco repetitivo, ya que están centrados en el tiempo previo y durante la ocupación de Israel por Babilonia y Persia. Según la Biblia esta ocupación fue permitida por Dios, debido a las innumerables ocasiones en que el pueblo y lideres se desviaron y pusieron sus ojos en otros dioses o prácticas que no eran permitidas.

Cuando uno lee la Biblia en orden se da cuenta de verdad de que fueron muchas veces y igualmente fueron perdonados muchas veces. ¿Por qué les cuento esta historia? La razón es que aún cuando el pueblo fue liberado de la esclavitud y convertido en un imperio por siglos, aún así, cuando las situaciones se complicaban el pueblo se volvía a los dioses. Y la verdad es que es más fácil aferrarse a los objetos y las cosas que podemos ver que a tener fe. Creo que en estos tiempos de pandemia, que ya parece interminable, es muy fácil desanimarse y buscar esperanza en cosas que no dan garantía. La única garantía la tenemos en Dios.

Es muy bueno que tenemos a nuestros gobernantes, nuestros doctores, que se están desarrollando vacunas, nuestros trabajos, que tenemos mascarillas. Todo esto es muy bueno. Pero en lo único que podemos poner nuestra confianza es en Dios, él es el único que permanece siempre, antes, durante y después de cualquier pandemia. Los invito a que busquen en su corazón y su mente.

Y piensen: ¿Dónde está mi esperanza en estos tiempos? ¿Qué me hace sentir seguro?

¡Ahora sí, hablemos de Mongolia! Como algunos saben teníamos un viaje exploratorio planeado en marzo de este año, unas semanas antes por el virus lo movimos a septiembre. Con la situación actual del mundo, estamos 99.9% seguros de que lo tendremos que mover de nuevo. Posiblemente al próximo año. Mongolia sigue frio como siempre y con poca cantidad de casos y todos importados. Actualmente a Mongolia solo pueden entrar nacionales, y tienen que hacer una cuarentena por 5 semanas. Suena extremo, pero es la única manera en que un país puede tener menos de 300 casos. Por unas semanas, nuestras reuniones para buscar socios en la misión fueron pocas. Nos costó encontrar un ritmo y la manera de tener reuniones en estos tiempos. Pero estamos de vuelta y en las últimas semanas Dios ha provisto muchas reuniones y posibles socios que nos ponen un paso más cerca de nuestra meta. De los cursos que tenemos que llevar, ya casi terminamos el primero. Y Aemilii está sacando la licencia para enseñar Ingles internacionalmente.
